Treese Media Group seeks a vibrant Afternoon Radio Talk Show Host. We’re seeking an individual deeply connected within the community, attuned to the pulse of topics that resonate most with our audience. The ideal host will craft engaging content and facilitate discussions that appeal to a diverse range of listener demographics. A comprehensive grasp of local, regional, and national news, sports, entertainment, and community events is key for this role.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a captivating, locally relevant news/talk program on morning radio
- Cultivate a connection with listeners through entertaining and informative content aligned with the station’s format, genre, and target demographic
- Conduct interviews, engage with callers, and host live events
- Adhere to station guidelines, Treese Media Group policies, FCC regulations, and all federal, state, and local laws pertaining to broadcast content
- Prepare for on-air shifts with creativity, independent judgment, and professional acumen in content creation, production, interviews, and broadcasting
- Ensure the airing of logged commercials, promotions, and essential programming
- Maintain an engaging personality page on the station’s website
- Participate in mandatory station Programming, Promotions, and Sales meetings and events
- Attend both paid and unpaid station events, representing the station as an ambassador
- Execute only approved interviews and on-air events as directed by the Program Director, following designated show formats
- Assist in voice-over and production of paid and unpaid station spots
- Act as the primary creative voice and guide support staff for the show
- Research and acquire subject matter knowledge for impromptu discussions and immediate commentary
- Edit content using digital audio editing software
- Prepare written content, audio, visual material, and video footage for social media platforms, blogs, and websites
- Monitor studio equipment functionality and report technical malfunctions to Engineering
- Manage emergency inserts, staying on call for breaking news or unforeseen circumstances
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and social networking
- Competence in media production and broadcast systems like AudioVault, Adobe Audition, and Telos Systems
- Thorough understanding of FCC rules and regulations
- Socially aware, staying current with local and national trends, or specialized knowledge relevant to on-air discussions
- Demonstrated engaging, upbeat, and informative on-air personality that resonates with the audience
- Pleasant, charismatic voice with excellent pronunciation
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with proficiency in grammar
- Creativity and imagination in content creation
- Ability to maintain composure in challenging situations and with various personalities
- Team player with collaborative abilities
- Adaptability to schedule changes and fast-paced environments with tight deadlines
Work Experience
- 3+ years of on-air radio experience (Required)
- Audio demo showcasing on-air work, interviews, commercials, and production skills
Education
- Preferred 4-year college degree, preferably in Communications
